Raised in Northern California, Brian Purdy is a self-taught artist who grew up exposed to art through his family.

His father, Douglas Purdy, nationally known for his bronze sculptures, and welded art, owned the Douglas Purdy Gallery in Carmel California, and has pieces permanently displayed in the Monterey Convention Center and the Monterey Museum of Art. His Grandfather owned the Matrix Gallery, one of the first art gallery’s on the Monterey Wharf.

Brian lives in San Luis Obispo County with his cattle dog Mazzy. He loves to fish, hike, and cycle.  He also loves to spend time with his two boys and their families, especially his two new granddaughters.
